If you are a Projector did you know that you are a natural guide? Projector types in Human Design have a natural gift to guide others and, if used correctly, be great leaders. Their aura (energetic field) has a probing quality and can often see what others cannot see, and this is how Projector insights can be so useful in guiding and leading.
Of course this can be quite disconcerting for others when you offer your insights without first being invited to do so. Not to mention others will already be feeling that probing aura of yours which may make them feel uncomfortable.
The strategy of waiting for invitations and recognition
Besides biting your tongue when you haven’t been invited to share your insights, what do you do while you wait to be invited to guide others with your insightful wisdom?
I’ll get into that later in this article.
Let’s first look at the signature of Projectors, which is success. Every Human Design type has a signature and for Projectors it’s feeling successful. The signature in Human Design is like the north star compass guiding you in your decision making. It has to feel successful for you if you are a Projector. For other types it’s a different signature.
For years after discovering Human Design I played with the concept of success. What does it mean to me? How does it feel? I went into the “usual suspects” of success such as financial prosperity, achievement of goals, etc.
This notion of what success feels like was percolating for quite a while in my consciousness and then I had a light bulb moment.
I saw how the intertwining of one’s signature together with their Human Design strategy works together. This works for all types. For Projectors, the thread of success ties in with their strategy in this way:
The feeling of success comes when I feel recognized and seen for my wisdom, insights, and knowing and I receive invitations to share them in a meaningful way.
I invite you to explore how the feeling of being recognized interweaves with a sense of success, and what that feels like for you.
Experimenting with how the signature of success intertwines with the strategy of waiting to be recognized and invited can be a game changer.
The opposite of feeling successful
Any feeling of bitterness means you are falling into who you are NOT as a Projector. The whole thing about Human Design is about being true to who you are in this human experience. It's a map to help you be authentically you without the conditioning of having been told you are this, shouldn’t be that, etc.
Bitterness comes when you think you don’t get the recognition you deserve for what you do, offer, support. Bitter thoughts come when the invitations you are waiting for are not forthcoming. Or being miffed because you’ve tried to help and then aren’t recognized for your support is one of the ways bitterness creeps in.
I’ve been there many times, and I also saw that in those non-recognition situations I wasn’t really invited. For me, it came down to this: I can either support without attachments or suffer with my neediness to be recognized.
This leads me to an important distinction.
RECOGNITION WITHOUT NEEDING EXTERNAL VALIDATION
This is the crux. How to be recognized and yet let go of any need for external validation.
They are really two different things but often get entangled. So let’s untangle it.
Needing external validation is a malady that affects a lot of humanity. We don’t fully trust ourselves. Through no fault of our own, most of us are raised in an over-culture that teaches us to put more credence in outer authorities and very little into the exploration and reliance of our own inner authority guidance and intuition. This is not just about Projectors but all of humanity.
The remedy
For Projectors, the recognition you crave has to come from yourself first. Recognize your gifts, what you are here for and trust in your inner authority in all decisions that lead to you feeling successful. Understand who you are in your humanness and honor being true to you.
What happens in the seemingly outer comes from within first. Or it’s been said the outer can be a reflection of the inner.
Focusing outward and looking for outer validations of a “like”, or agreement with your view is not the kind of recognition that’s going to feel successful in the long term.
Trust in yourself, know who you are intimately, and make decisions from your own inner authority.
Georgia O’keefe (artist) said this:
“I have already settled it for myself so flattery and criticism go down the same drain and I am quite free.”
Freedom
That’s what being true to you and living authentically leads to.
What to do while waiting?
So I’m back to that question.
There’s a lot of trust involved in waiting. Probably why it’s not so easy for some of us.
Here are three suggestions while waiting for the recognition and invitations to arrive.
Trust in the timing of things. Don't put anything on a timeline as far as how long you have to wait to be invited or recognized. I know it seems highly impractical but let this seep into you energetically: Trust in the divine timing of things.
In the meantime: Do the things you LOVE to do. Study? Be creative? Write? Read on topics you adore? Cook? While you are waiting, use the time to do things you love.
Share about what you love doing and why. As a Projector you have a lot of insights to share. While you learn to hold your tongue around giving suggestions to people who haven't yet invited you to do so, you can instead write about your insights, solutions, ideas in a more generalized way. Share your insights and experiences and it will not only help others in a non-personal way, but you will begin to be recognised by others for your insights and wisdom.
Projector Leadership
When Projectors start to honor who they are and step into the gifts they have, a new kind of leadership will emerge, where the insights and guidance of Projectors will be used for the benefit of humanity.
It requires that you first know who you are and who you are not as a Projector type.
It requires that you see clearly that you are NOT like the majority of Generators, or Manifesting Generators in the world and stop trying to emulate that majority and how they work. They are meant to work in that way. But not you. Projectors are here to guide them in that work through their keen ability to see what’s needed.
As Projectors step into who they are and stop trying to be something else, their leadership is a natural evolutionary unfolding.
