If you have a business, and work for yourself as a solopreneur you would have encountered the idea of branding.
In a nutshell, branding is YOU.
This may be a no-brainer and come as no big surprise, yet it’s worth mentioning.
If our business branding is about who we are, the question to ask ourselves is how well do we know who we are, what we want, and what we enjoy.
You also gain clarity by asking yourself:
Am I living from my past conditioning and beliefs about who I am?
Am I doing things because other people I admire are doing things in this particular way in their business?
Am I following some strategy that someone has taught to me, even when it doesn’t exactly fit who I am?
SELF-ENQUIRY
The spiritual path is one of self enquiry.
Running a business is also a spiritual undertaking. Especially when it comes to branding.
Branding isn’t some made up thing or formula.
In fact you don’t even have to focus on it. Instead:
Focus on who you are and what you enjoy doing
Know who you are, what energy you bring into the world, what you enjoy doing and THAT focus is what will naturally express itself as your brand in business.
Why is this important?
You will know how to express yourself without need for outer validation
You will be able to attract like-hearted, like-minded people who get you. And not care about those who don’t.
You will be authentic in your expressions and find what works best for you so that people can find you and become the people who follow and work with you.
BE TRUE TO YOU
Your energy is what people receive first and foremost.
They feel your energy through your writing, hearing your voice on a podcast or video, or meeting you in person.
With branding you might choose colors you like, words that you like to use, or think of people who you want to surround yourself with as your audience. All part of branding.
Energetic branding is all about understanding who you are, what you love to do, and then sharing yourself in ways that feel good to you. When it feels good for you, this will connect you to the people who are aligned and right for you. Your audience of like-minded, like-hearted people.
INSIDE NOT OUTSIDE
Knowing who you are and continually asking the questions, Who am I? What do I want? becomes your brand in business. You are being you from the inside and not from outer conditionings and beliefs about who you are.
Your business is not a separate thing to YOU. Your business becomes an authentic extension of you that is in service helping others in the way that you do.
Bringing in Human Design
As a Human Design analyst I like to bring in this extra dimension into branding. This is something I learned from my mentor.
This can be especially helpful when exploring those questions of Who am I? What do I want?
If you bring up your Human Design chart (there are plenty of free download chart sites available) you will see on the right hand side the black numbers. At the very top is what’s called your Personality Sun, which is part of our overall purpose as a human being. When it comes to our business this number which is a Gate within the chart can reveal what our purpose is in helping others.
The numbers of Personality Sun refer to the gate within the chart.
You can read about what that gate means and start to play around with how this relates to your business.
